Im so lost... Why cant the lord just tell me what he wants me to do?

Im a security guard and about a year a go I got discharged for asthma from the Army. All I ever wanted to is to be a police officer have a wife and continue my blood line. It kills me because I have been driving a motorcycle for the last Year and just want to get on 4 wheels. Why am I always in the suck? I feel as if my life is over. Im strong in the Lord and starting to except nothing good is coming way. Im not depressed just lost.
