If Mad Eye Moody can see though wood, shouldn't he be able to see what a boggart looks like?

Ok, I may be a total geek for asking this, but in Order of the Phoenix, he told Molly a boggart was in a desk. So doesn't he know what boggarts look like when they aren't scaring someone?
